About Us
The Royal Western
Australian Bowling Association (Inc), trading as Bowls WA, is
responsible for advancing, promoting and controlling the game of
lawn bowls in WA.
Bowls WA is made up of 219 bowling clubs (metro - 71, country - 148) with a total of 19,964 members (male - 13044, female - 6920). This makes it one of the largest sporting organisations in WA.
The organisation is governed by a set of Rules to cover the management of the organisation, a set of By Laws to cover the game and policies on a wide range of matters. All of these documents can be found in the Resources section).
The organisation is managed by a Board of 12 members and has 4 full time and 2 part time staff. A comprehensive Committee structure reports to the Executive. Organisation charts are available showing the Bowls WA management Structure and Executive Structure.
The primary responsibilities of the organisation include:
- promotion and advancement of bowls in WA
- conduct of State championships
- conduct of pennants (inter - club) competition
- manage WA Inter - State teams
- train coaches and umpires
- provision of assistance to clubs with management issues
- representation for the sport in the public forum.
