Bowlsmobile Information Sheet

The following guidelines are aimed to help clubs run a successful display.

Organising the display

  • Decide on the dates you would prefer to have your promotion
  • Use the bowlsmobile booking form to ensure the dates are free
  • Once we have confirmed the dates, contact your local shopping centre management or the venue that you have decided to use and make a booking. Also ask what time they would like you to set up the display
  • Advise Bowls WA that the booking has been made and the times that have been organised to set up and dismantle the display. We will then organise the insurance cover for you and send you the appropriate form. You will have to sign an agreement with the venue and they will ask you for a copy of the insurance cover.
  • On the day the display will be brought to your venue and taken away at the end of the promotion. We will also help you get started but we will need help to set-up and pack away.

Running the display

  • Organise club members to man the display, a minimum of three per session is a suggested and a mixture of men and women is preferred. Dress should not be too formal, club tops and mufti bottoms with bowls shoes are adequate. Full whites are not recommended.
  • Prepare a club information sheet that can be handed to those who show an interest. Include details about the club, including contact names and numbers and what your club has to offer. Take the names of those showing an interest, you may need to contact them later
  • Organise a "have a go" day and publicise this on your pamphlet. This should be held as soon as possible after the promotion (Within a week). Possibly include a free sausage sizzle as an inducement.
  • Contact those who didn't attend the open day, they may have just forgotten
  • Ensure that some follow on activity is offered to encourage those that came to your open day, come again. Offer coaching or fun bowls and corporate bowls etc.

The success of these promotions really depends on the volunteers that man the displays. They should be outgoing, talk to the shoppers and encourage them to have a go. Having a game between helpers is always a good way of attracting attention and possibly customers.

Goodluck with your Promotion!
