WA Men’s Over 60s Side
for National Series in Geelong Oct 22-25 State Over 60’s Selectors have announced the line-up to represent Western Australia.
Six players will make their debut for the Western Australian Men’s Over 60’s State Team in the National Over 60’s Competition being played in Geelong, Victoria from Tuesday 22nd October – Friday 25th October 2013.
Steve O’Neill and Grant Nicol will add big game experience after their successful season with the Osborne Park Premier Division as well as State Fours success for O’Neill and Nicol’s recent PBA victories. John Trewhella, Pat Buller and Dinko Golem have been at the business end of many tournaments over the years as well as their success in their home club Pennant teams. Their inclusion was a mixture of 2012-13 season and outstanding trial form in the recent Over 60’s trial weekend.
A surprise inclusion to many would be Gordon Twist from Eaton. Having played many top line bowls at various Country Round Robins and tournaments in and around Eaton, Twist had a solid weekend at the Over 60’s trials that put him in front of his many fancied rivals and made it impossible to leave him out of the final team.
The Western Australian Men will be chasing success in the tournament for the first time after having fallen agonisingly short in previous years.
