Adelaide Endurance into semi-finals of inaugural APL

Adelaide Endurance has surged to the top of the Australian Premier League lawn bowls ladder and is just two wins away from securing the inaugural $100,000 title, as the Adelaide Messenger reports . The Endurance took over pole position after three victories on day three of competition at Club Pine Rivers in Brisbane yesterday. The side, which is sponsored by Messenger Community News, plays its final round robin match against New Zealand Balckjacks today before tonight’s semi-finals and final. Adelaide had a patchy start to its maiden APL campaign and sat fifth with three wins and three losses after the first two days of play. However, straight sets wins yesterday over Sydney Lions, Brisbane Gold and Melbourne Roys secured its place in the final four. The side is made up of Adelaide-based pennant players Wayne Ruediger (Grange), Mark Haines (West Lakes) and Scott Thulborn (Adelaide) and is coached by Lenswood’s Faye Luke. The APL has been likened to lawn bowls version of Twenty20 cricket and features shorter games, city-based franchises and players in coloured uniforms. Matches will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 2 tonight from 5pm.
