Dominant under 18’s lead from front

Australia returned fire to New Zealand this afternoon losing only one of 14 rinks in first session after lunch at the 2014 WIN Network Trans-Tasman in Traralgon after the visitors dominated the morning session. With all 74 competitors in action in the first afternoon session of the day, the Australian’s made a clean sweep of the men’s and women’s open singles and fours spearheaded by Aron Sherriff’s 21-12 victory over Shannon McIlroy and Kelsey Cottrell’s impressive 21-7 win over Jo Edwards both recording their second straight win over their New Zealand opponents. In the other open category encounters, Australia’s men’s fours skipped by Matthew Flapper saluted 15-13 while their female counterparts, skipped by Natasha Scott won 14-9 giving the category a 30-shot advantage for the session. The under 18 boys and girls won all rinks and boasted a 57-shot advantage for the session with their pairs and triples teams scoring comprehensive victories. The positive results, which include boy’s pairs win of 22-8, triples 26-7, girls pairs 26-12 and triples 19-9 have the under 18’s in an unassailable position having only dropped two rinks over the first two days of action. New Zealand claimed one rink in the development category in the session after lunch in the women’s triples as the Angela Boyd-skipped combination defeated the Breeanna Dickson-skipped Aussies 23-14. In the first para-sport action for the day, Australia collected the prize in both the mixed pairs and triples winning 17-7 and 16-7 respectively. For results, click here
