Bowls Australia is deeply saddened to hear of the passing the nation’s 53rd capped international representative, Peter Rheuben last night. During an illustrious career, Peter, 83, wore the green and gold for Australia at the 1974 and 1982 Commonwealth Games, 1981 and 1984 World Bowls Championships, and the 1981, 1984 and 1986 Trans Tasman test series. International highlights for Peter include a gold medal in the pairs at the 1980 World Bowls Championships and a bronze medal in the pairs at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane. Peter was a tremendous New South Wales representative, playing 386 games for his state and holding the record for most tests played. He claimed the 1972 State Singles title along with the two NSW Champion of Champions crowns in 1971 and 1993. Peter was inducted into the RNSWBA Hall of Fame in 2007, and was bestowed with the honour of induction at Bowls Australia’s inaugural Hall of Fame in 2011. Bowls Australia wishes to extend its condolences to the Rheuben family.
