State Triples Day 2 Results
Men’s and Women’s games played Sunday 6th April The Henselite State Triples is poised for an exciting finish with play now at the semi final stages for both the Men’s and Women’s competition.
In the Women’s event last years winner skippered by Kathy Gobbart were defeated by the Doubleview trio of Mel Rankin, Jocelyn Butler and Lil Paskos in the morning 14-13 who then continued the good form with a win over Sue Heal 14-11. They will play the experienced Lisa Featherby’s Mosman Park side in the first semi-final. Featherby continued the good form from the recent Australian Sides Series defeating the always hard to beat Noelene Abe 13-11. The other semi will see North Beach’s Rhonda Prosser playing a Victoria Park Carlisle team skipped by Faye Kelly.
The Men’s event will see a very rare occurrence in both semi’s. Wayne Neilson and his composite side will play David Downey’s composite side which includes Wes Neilson – a rare father versus son battle. The other semi is also a family affair with brothers David Opie with his Cambridge side up against Justin Opie with Daniel Patterson and Mark Simpson. Both brothers secured narrow victories and one would expect a close clash tomorrow.
Semi Final matches will begin from 9.30am at Manning with the finals expected to begin around 1pm.
