Warilla World Cup three-peat for Henry
Jeremy Henry has completed a Hat-Trick or World Cup singles crowns, winning an all Australian final over Tony Wood (Clayton, Victoria) in the final at Warilla Bowling Club. Henry claimed a high class final in straight sets. Henry started the first set on top, scoring singles on each of the first four ends. Wood countered with singles on the fifth and sixth end, but Henry closed out the first set with counts of one and two shots to move to an unassailable 7-2 lead after 8 ends. Wood started the second set brilliantly, converting to score a 3 on the opening end. Henry scored on the second, Wood on the third to lead 4-1. Henry then scored three successive singles to tie the score at 4-4 after 6 ends. Wood seemed to have grabbed the ascendency on the 7th end, scoring a massive three shots to lead 7-4 with two to play. Henry scored a single on the penultimate end to keep the set alive, and then rolled along jack on the final end. Henry piled on the pressure and held four shots with only Wood’s last bowl to play. Wood ran at the head and removed one of Henry’s counters, but the count of three gave Henry the final set 8-7 and a hat-trick of Men’s World Cup titles. For results, click here
