‘Mona’ to shave Slater for charity
Commonwealth Games bound para-sport athlete Tim Slater will raise money for Cerebral Palsy Australia before jetting off to Glasgow next month. Slater, 22 was born with Cerebral Palsy and is one of seven para-sport team members representing Australia at the Commonwealth Games in Scotland from July 23 and Slater will compete in the Bowlers with a Disability Triples competition. The Ballarat-based bowler has agreed to ‘Slater’s Shave’ and will have his beard (at least) shaved off for charity by fellow Ballarat local, 1994 Commonwealth Games gold medallist and 2014 Australian Commonwealth Games Team Chef de Mission Steve Moneghetti to raise money for Cerebral Palsy Australia.. Slater has been playing bowls for nine years and is a member of the Victoria Bowling Club in Ballarat after being introduced to the sport by his father Paul.
