Bowls Australia honour former board member

Former Bowls Australia board member Barbara Gilbert was recognised for her contribution to the sport of bowls at a national level yesterday, following her decision to relinquish her position at the organisation’s last board meeting.

Chief Executive Officer Neil Dalrymple presented Gilbert with a plaque commemorating her service to the Bowls Australia board over the past two years at the Bowls Victoria Annual General Meeting at the Hawthorn Arts Centre yesterday afternoon.

Dalrymple was full of praise for Gilbert, who renounced her spot at the national level to fulfil a deep-rooted desire to hold a position on the Bowls Victoria board last August.

“I’d like to publicly thank Barb on behalf of all Bowls Australia board and staff members,” Dalrymple said.

“Barb was an asset to the organisation, joining in a casual vacancy capacity for the elected director role in April 2012, before being voted in permanently as an elected director later that year.

“We wish her all the best of luck her new role at Bowls Victoria.”
