Last chance to enter the Vic Open

Time is running out for bowlers to get their entries in for the 2014 Victorian Open, with registration closing this Friday, October 24.

The Victorian Open, which is again being staged in the Goulburn Valley and hosted by Shepparton Park Bowls Club from November 23 to 29, has become an integral part of the Victorian bowls calendar, and all roads will lead to City of Greater Shepparton for this week-long tournament.

The 2014 Vic Open will feature singles, pairs and triples, for both men and women, in addition to mixed pairs.

With a touch under $40,000 in prize money on offer, the Open is an attractive proposition to renowned players from within, and outside, the state of Victoria, having already confirmed over 700 entries.

In a new initiative, participants are encouraged to enter all disciplines in the event, to try and claim the $2,000 prize purse on offer for the best performed player of the Open, and the coveted VIC Medal that accompanies the honour.

Points will be awarded to players reaching the last 16 in each discipline, with additional points on offer the further players progress.

Also on offer in all disciplines at the 2014 Victorian Open are Bowls Australia National Player Ranking Points – with the highest ranked male and female players at the conclusion of the annual $225,000 Australian Open awarded a cheque to the tune of $3,000 each, courtesy of the National Player Ranking System sponsor, Aero Bowls.

The Vic Open is classified as a tier-three event under the national structure, so there’s an abundance of points on offer for bowlers striving to feature in the Player Rankings, and for those seeking to be attain Australia’s number one bowler status, it’s an unmissable opportunity.
