Stephen Fewster, Craig Greenhalgh and Cody Packer are additions to the squad The WA Men’s State Selection Panel is pleased to announce three additions to the 2014/15 Men’s State Squad.  Stephen Fewster (Gingin) and Craig Greenhalgh (Mandurah) caught the eye with impressive performances in the annual Country All-Star v State Squad earlier in the year and were invited to train with the squad last Sunday at Yokine Districts Bowling Club.
Bedford’s Cody Packer was one of the few highlights from a disappointing 2013 Sides Series in Bendigo, Victoria and his strong start to the season has certainly not gone unnoticed.
Packer said, “I’m excited about being selected after a bit of a break away from it. All I want to do now is ensure I trial the best I can and contribute in whichever way is required of me.
“The session on the weekend was great.   There were a couple of boys away but you could still sense that everyone in the squad knows it’s now or never and there were plenty of good bowls played.”
Mandurah youngster Joshua Hamilton was also invited to training and such opportunities for both country and metropolitan players will continue to be afforded to talented bowlers who consistently perform in pennant competitions and various State events.  The Selection Panel has vowed to leave no stone unturned as they search for the right balance, knowing a home Side Series on our greens at Yokine represents a realistic chance of delivering the Alley Shield to an expectant Western Australian bowls community.
