Past winners to do battle in Masters Semi’s
Nexus Doubleview Masters Pairs After three days of play in the Nexus Doubleview Masters Pairs we have reached the semi final stage and all four remaining sides contain at least one past winner of the event. The action will literally be hotting up as players not only battle each other but a predicted 41 degree maximum forecast. Play begins at around 10am will the final scheduled to begin around 2.30pm.
The first semi final will see two time winner Jamie O’Keefe from Stirling partner Doubleview’s Bill Brandsma. The pair escaped a tough quarter final winning an extra end shoot out and Mike Murray and his father Tim Murray yesterday afternoon. They will play the 2013 Champions and 2014 Runner-ups Tom Mitchell and Rhett Butler (Victoria Park Carlisle) who had to survive two close encounters yesterday against Costello and Ingram (Composite) and father and son Doubleview side of Charlie and Danny Slavich.
The second semi final should also prove plenty of interest with 1995 winner Steve Srhoy turning back the clock to play some magical bowls with Cockburn partner John Morgan. The pair upset some highly fancied combinations, firstly in an extra end against WA State reps Matt Ellul and Luke Richardson and then in a come from behind three shot win over Osborne Park’s Gary Caffell and Neil Payne who had caused a sensation the day before beating Australian International Aron Sheriff and Kyle McIlroy in sectional play. Their opposition will be 2012 winners Matthew Mitchell and Peter Ker (Manning) who recorded a fairly comprehensive 20-6 quarter final win over the Edmonds brothers Scott and Jamie but had a much tougher previous game just getting home 18-17 against Jon Sharp and Gavin Faulkner (Composite).
