Meet Our WA State Team Member Series

Between now and the start of the National Side Series at Yokine BC starting on Thursday 9th April. Bowls WA will be publishing a series of stories about some of our Men and Women State Team Members. Where did our state representatives come from and how did they get into the privileged position of playing for Western Australia.
The fourth in the series is one of the women’s debutants, Robyn O’Brien. Robyn comes from a family of sporting high achievers including herself in other sports. A down to earth Country Girl, Robyn loves life, family and sport and has a competitive streak that makes any team she is in better. The third in the series is one of the men’s state skippers, Matt Ellul. Like our first two stories, Matt has travel many miles to get where he is today. Another adopted West Australian, Matt has had his ups and downs to now be playing some of his most consistent bowls, while being supported by a loving girlfriend and a beautiful baby girl. The second in the series is one of our most experienced women’s state players, Therese Hastings. While much is known about Therese’s exploits on the green, how many know of her working life in some of Western Australia’s most remote communities and how she came to be one of the premier female bowlers not only in Western Australia but also Australia. Scott’s journey started in South Australia and life has taken him up the middle of Australia before coming down through the top of Western Australia to arrive at this point of time.
