Yokine Bowls Club will host the best bowlers from around Australia this week in the annual Australian Sides Championship.

All eight states and territories will compete from Thursday to Sunday.

The WA men’s team will be led by Manning premiership winning skipper Matt Ellul, who has been in sensational form in recent weeks, while Perth Suns’ duo Tom Mitchell and Clive Adams will skipper the remaining rinks.

Scott Edmonds and Scott Walker will make their debuts for WA.

The ladies’ team has recent World Junior Cup dual gold medallist Kristina Krstic in charge of a rink for the first time, while stalwart Therese Hastings and effervescent Lisa Featherby skip the remaining two rinks.

Toni Madigan, Robyn O’Brien, Liz Brooke and Denise Kelly will all make their debuts for WA.

Men’s defending champion Queensland has named a very strong side once again, with Nathan Rice, Brett Wilkie and Mark Casey to take charge of their rinks.

With quality players such as Anthony Kiepe playing second, and Sean Baker playing third, team strength is unquestionable.

Lynsey Clarke leads the ladies’ side, with Julie Keegan, Bolivia Millerick and Kristy Thatcher making up a very strong rink in that side.

NSW’s men’s side is also very strong, with world champion Aron Sherriff, Perth Suns’ coach Wayne Turley, and David Ferguson skippering its rinks.
