Played 27th April 2015 Busselton’s Glenn Tillotson defeated Morley’s Craig Hamilton 21-18 in the final of the Men’s Champion of Champion Novice Singles held at the Morley Bowling Club today.
The Semi Finals were both close but comfortable affairs with Tillotson defeating Michael Needs (Dudley Park) 17-12 to make his way into the final while Hamilton overcame John Adams (Leeming) 17-13 to book his place.
Early in the final Tillotson was the dominant player and it looked like a quick final when he lead 10-1. Consecutive winning ends to Hamilton was countered by a full count of four to Tillotson to take the score to 14-4, another single to Hamilton was again answered with Tillotson winning singles on the next two ends to lead 16-5. The end looked fairly close at that stage before the local Morley champion made his move. Consecutive threes to Hamilton closed the gap to five before Tillotson again steadied with his own two to get within three of victory at 18-11. Again Hamilton put on the pressure and with a three followed by a two and then a one, both players were now within one end of victory with Tillotson holding a 18-17 lead. A single to Tillotson was followed by a great last bowl draw shot to Hamilton to keep only one behind. With the pressure on in the last few ends, it was Glenn Tillotson who held his nerve the best with two singles to close the game out at 21-18 and take home the Champion of Champions title.
