Four New Clubs join the Mandurah APL Cup 2015
Played Saturday 26th September and Sunday 27th September 2015 Two Country and two Metropolitan Clubs have recently signed up as entrants in the Mandurah APL Cup to be held at the Mandurah Bowling and Recreation Club on Saturday March 26th and Sunday March 27th 2015.
Dudley Park comes into the competition fresh from taking home the Jim Murray Award for the Most Outstanding Country Club in the 2014-15 season.
With a 2015 Men’s Pennant in a tough Murray Districts league, Dudley Park can lay claim to have some of the best country bowlers going around. 2014 state team member Mark Simpson is likely to be leading them out, giving Dudley Park a serious shot at taking back another trophy to the club in the inaugural Mandurah APL Cup.
The second country club entered into the Mandurah APL Cup is perennial country club of the year nominee Gnowangerup.
The Gnowangerup Club may be smaller in number than some other country clubs but they can boast both the Men’s and Women’s Central Stirling 2015 Pennant showing they will be difficult to overcome in both men’s and women’s competition.
While Gnowangerup hasn’t had any recent Countryweek success, they are a club with a proud tradition that often has teams at the business end of these type of events and consistently have players competing at a Country verses Metropolitan level.
Two more Metropolitan big guns have joined the fray to add the Mandurah APL Cup to the trophy cabinet. 2014-15 seasons Premier League Runner Up and Preliminary finalist Doubleview and Cambridge respectively are looking forward to heading down to Mandurah in late September.
The Doubleview team will be smarting from last seasons grand final lose and are likely to use the competition as a way to erase bad memories and set the 2015-16 season up early.
While they may have lost a number of team members from last season, the number of past and present state team and squad members is still very impressive and they will be a team to watch.
Cambridge were bundled out in straight sets in last years Premier League finals but they like Doubleview have a number of seasoned performers form past and present state teams.
The make up of the Cambridge final squad of both male and female players will be an interest to see if it will be good enough to rise to the top of one of the four sections of eight teams.
More clubs and competition details will be released soon as we count down to Saturday September 26th 2015
