Asia Pacific Championships ready to roll

The Australian Jackaroos squad members selected to don the green and gold uniform at the Asia Pacific Championships will begin their preparations for glory at the 19 nation event when they arrive on New Zealand shores today.

The Asia Pacific Championships, which is a quadrennial tournament used Southern Hemisphere’s qualifier event the World Bowls Championships, will be played across two clubs over 12 days from Tuesday, November 24 to Sunday, December 6, with a rest day on November 28.

Burnside Bowling Club will host section play, preliminary finals and finals while Bowls Papanui will also host sectional play.

November 24 to 27 will see the women’s singles and fours, and the men’s pairs and triples action, while November 29 to December 3 will feature the remaining disciplines, culminating with all the finals from December 4 to 6.

Australia will look to improve on their performance at the 2011 iteration in Adelaide, where they claimed two gold, five silver and bronze medal.
