Round in Review week 6

by admin on November 29, 2015

BCiB Metropolitan Pennants A third of the way into the season now with division ladders starting to shape up. Summer may not be here quite yet but the heat is definitely on with some key clashes this past weekend and many to come between now and Christmas.
This week saw a tie for the largest winning margin for a rink. Interestingly both of these win came from the same division, 2nd Division Gold. The team of Hinchcliffe, Scott, Soderstrom and Haley from Morley were victorious 39-5 to help set-up their side’s division best victory while Sorrento’s Tozer, Burroughs, Webb and Jeffs recorded a score of 44-10 to help their side take the aggregate.
This week’s widest aggregate margin came from 2nd Division. Yokine 2 in 2nd Gold produced a 63 shot win which included a 27 shot win from the Culhane rink. Two more double digit margins blew the margin out and the Doggies collected all eight points.
In the women’s competition the Wanneroo 2nd Division Lime rink of Anderson, Briggs, Pace and O’Mara outscored their opponents by 26 shots over the 18 ends to be the biggest rink win of the day and set up the round best aggregate win. Wanneroo were far too good for their opponents with the Johnston rink taking an 18 shot win to stretch the aggregate margin out to 44 shots.
We’ve seen a couple of blowouts in men’s Premier League in recent weeks but this round it tightened. The round high fourteen shot wins to Stevens, Mawdsley, Rowland and King from Osborne Park and Wanneroo’s Humphryson, Turra, Gunning and Fewster rink were two of a just a handful of double digit wins in the division and bigger than the largest aggregate victory for the week.
It was a happy evening in the Jeffs’ home on Saturday night with both husband and wife registering big wins. Shelley was part of a 1st Division Red highest 18 shot win for Sorrento against North Beach but Robert ultimately got the household bragging rights as part of the equal weekend best Tozer rink in Sorrento’s 3rd Gold.
