by admin on December 20, 2015

BCiB Metro Pennants The first set of fixtures is over and now we head into the Christmas break for a well deserved rest. We hope everyone has enjoyed the first half of the season and wish everyone a Merry Christmas. The festivities started early for some the ladies competition and Men’s 6th Division having the week off. Others had some big wins worth celebrating to kick off the holiday season.
This week’s biggest winner was Valley’s 4th Division Gold side in their match against Merriwa AFA. Two rinks put more than thirty shots on the board leading to the side having one of the highest total scores this season. Valley scored 127 shots in their 67 shot victory to be the round’s big winners.
This week’s biggest rink win came from 3rd Division Red. The Mosman Park team of Chris McMahon, John Hart, Peter Young and Tony Cox ran rampant to record a 30 shot win. The win was crucial in the balance of the game, with the aggregate decided by 22 shots. Had the rink not won by such an impressive margin the result of the match my have been much different.
At the halfway mark of the year the team with the most points on the board are Leeming’s 2nd Division White team. The team has accrued 62 points throughout the year to lead the race to earn the all important hosting rights for the 2nd Division Pennant final. They will have to continue their good form though with 2nd Division Gold leader Yokine 2 having the second most points across the competition on 60. The women’s points leader is 1 Red leader Manning on 30 points. The Manning side are undefeated with seven wins and a draw and have opened up an 11 shot gap between them and second place in the division.
The best performing rink over the first half of the season is the rink skippered by Colin Shier from Joondalup.  The 2nd Division Gold rink have won all nine games to start the season and Shier is the only skipper to be undefeated through nine games and has a shots up value of +83. In the women’s competition the best rink at this point in the season is Manning’s Shari Solly led rink in Premier League. Solly is seven wins from seven games in charge of the rink with an aggregate shots up of +74.
