BCiB Pennants Round 10 Everyone was back this Saturday after a very welcome Christmas break. No doubt some of us had some badly needed exercise after the Christmas festivities. The first games of 2016 have now been played so let’s see who the year’s best winners are so far.
This week’s biggest aggregate win in the men’s competition came from the Safety Bay 3rd Division Red side. There was an even contribution across the rinks with all four teams winning by at least 20 shots. All up the boys from the Bay defeated their Rockingham opponents 127-40 for one of the season’s biggest wins thus far. Another effort worth mentioning North Beach’s 51 shot win over Warwick 1 in 6th Division Gold. Both rinks won by over 20 shots for a comprehensive victory.
In women’s pennants the largest victory of the round went to Manning’s 1st Division Red side courtesy of a 33 shot win over Victoria Park/Carlisle. The side included a 1st Red best rink win of 17 by Shari Solly and her rink and keeps both rinks at the top of the division’s skip ladder.
The Bassendean 6th White rink of John Rowe, Robert Shephard, Brian Thomas and Clayton Miller ran up the scoreboard to be the biggest winner of the week. With a draw on the other rink their 40 shot win was the difference between the two sides overall as well. Rowe and his rink nearly earned the first 50 badge for a few months but fell just short at 48-8.
The biggest win by a women’s rink came from 3rd Division Blue where the Safety Bay rink of Christine Sepe, Dorothy Heinrich, Anne Fountain and Lorraine McKay recorded a 28 shot winning margin. They outscored their opponents 36-8 securing an aggregate win in the process.
It was a good day to be a Meehan down at Warnbro on Saturday. Vera, Anna and Elaine Meehan all played in the same rink in 2nd Division Lemon for the Wizards and recording a 29-8 victory. The 21 shot win was enough to be 2nd Division’s largest win.
