Women’s Saturday Final Wrap
Manning Manning Bowling Club stole the show as the Ladies Saturday Pennant finals were completed on March 12th. With four pennant flags up for grabs Manning fielded teams in three finals and came away with two flags.
The 1st Red team had proved dominant all year, in fact their only stumble was the last round of home and away fixtures were they lost by 7 shots to Mundaring. In the finals they returned to their best again winning the semi-final 44-30 against Gosnells before a huge 45-25 win in the grand final.
1st Blue saw Manning once again take the flag albeit in much closer circumstances. A narrow 5 shot win in the semi final against Osborne Park was followed up by a thrilling final against Leeming who had finished top of the table and won their semi by 7 shots against Rossmoyne. When the last end of scheduled play was completed the aggregate was drawn requiring both teams to go back out and play an extra end. Manning proved a little too good securing two shots and the flag.
The 2nd division title went to Leeming away to Innaloo. It was perhaps a bitter pill to swallow for the Innaloo ladies as they were undefeated all year until losing the final. The 3rd Division flag again saw Manning involved again however they were beaten by 10 shots by Belmont City (pictured above).
