Roleystone Bowling Club claimed the first of the Men’s Midweek Pennant flags winning the 6th Division Pennant flag.
With only two colours in 6th Division Doubleview hosted Roleystone on a mild day on a good surface running around 15 seconds which gave the players a good chance of playing consistent bowls.
The match was living up to its grand final billing, as both rinks having just a few ends to play, the aggregate scores were level. Doubleview had control on rink two and looked set to claim a valuable four shots when Roleystone skipper Kevin Paterson played a superb draw shot to land within inches for shot. Paterson’s team of Alan Mazzucelli (lead), Graham Matthews (2nd) and Les Carruthers (3rd) traded shots over the last few ends losing  narrowly 13-17 to Doubleview’s Wayne Kemp. On the other rink Roleystone were the big winners however with the Doubleview rink skipped by Alan Little having no answer in the concluding stages to the foursome of Darren Brown (lead), Trevor Smith (2nd), Robert Carruthers (3rd) and Rod Nash (skip) who won the last three ends convincingly claiming a two, five and three to give the Roleystone rink a 27-13 win, the aggregate and the flag. The Roleystone players were exceptional and earn’t a well deserved refreshment at the conclusion of the game as they celebrated their flag success.
The remaining Midweek Finals for 1st Division, 2nd Division, 3rd Division, 4th Division and 5th Division will be played this Thursday. Fixtures and venues are available in the Bowls Connect Competition Portal.
