Pickering pennant party
Round 2 in review (women’s edition) The Women had a belated second round of fixtures thanks to Melbourne Cup festivities, playing on Wednesday. For some the party continued through the round of pennants courtesy of a win whilst other barely got out of the starting gates.
It was a great day for Pickering Brook with their only pennant team being the 3rd Division equal best aggregate win with a margin of 41 shots as they collected all six points. The main contributor was Gina Altinier’s rink who also had an equal division best rink win with a 28 shot victory. Both of those ties were with Valley’s 3rd Division team which coincidentally is their only pennant side as well. In their 41 shot victory over Quinns Rocks Corneila Moed’s rink won by 28 to equal Altinier. On the other end of the spectrum the much larger Osborne Park Bowling Club also had a good day with all their sides winning. Those wins included a 33 shot win by Beryl Desmond and her rink in 2nd Division which was the biggest win competition wide. The largest aggregate victory of the week also came form 2nd Division with Rossmoyne winning by 55 shots. Another larger club to feature was Safety Bay who produced big wins with there top two teams in 1st White and 1st Green winning aggregates of 34 and 38 respectively.
In Premier League Manning continued their strong form with both sides winning to stay undefeated. The most likely title challengers Mosman Park however had the biggest win of the week once again, this time over Leeming to be in top spot at the end of the round.
