Eastern Zone Pennant Review The Eastern Zone contains the following leagues:  Avon Valley, Central Wheatbelt, East Avon, Goldfields and South Eastern. Each leagues Pennant Competitions can be found via their Pennant Competition Portal click here
Below we will review each leagues pennant competitions to see which clubs and players are performing well, and who looks headed for finals and a potential pennant flag.

AVON VALLEY BOWLING LEAGUE

Summary: We are just past the half way mark and it is looking like the undefeated Dowerin will be taking it up to last years winners York if the standings are anything to go by. York have lost two games but sit 1 point ahead of Dowerin and when they met in round 6 there was only 3 shots in the aggregate. Toodyay and Beverley on 38 points round out the top four however Goomalling 33, Meckering 30 and even Northam 27 are just a couple of wins out and can’t be ruled out.

 

AVON VALLEY BOWLING LEAGUE

Summary: Dowerin are the clear front runners in the second tier competition with just one loss and a 23 point gap back to Goomalling in second on 37.5. York 37 and Toodyay 36 round out the rest of a tight top four. In fifth are Northam in 25 and they will need a big end to the season to be in contention for the finals. Every team will play every other team in the run home to find out the final positions.

 

AVON VALLEY BOWLING LEAGUE

Dorothy Glass (Northam Blue) 8 wins +78 shots

Summary: Goomalling look to be establishing themselves as the premier club in the league with their two sides in the top two spots on the ladder. Goomalling White led the way on 32 points with Goomalling Blue on 27.5 points. York Blue 27 and Northam Blue 25 round out a four which could still finish in any order. Expect challenges to come from Beverly 19, Dowerin 18 and Bolgart 18 who are close enough with plenty of time. Even Northam Red on 14.5 points are close enough with so many games left.

 

CENTRAL WHEATBELT BOWLING LEAGUE

Nungarin

Top Skip:

William Fensome (Nungarin) 8.5 wins +82 shots

Summary: Nungarin currently find themselves in poll position with the top three skippers in the division. They are undefeated and sit top of the ladder after nine games on 83.5 points. Muka Gold sit just behind them on 76 points with Beacon in the third and final finals position on 68.5. There’s a fair gap back to Wyalkatchem and Koorda on 46 but in a competition where 11 points are up for grabs each week who knows what could happen. Things look even tougher for Trayning on 39 and everyone back past them look out of the running.

 

CENTRAL WHEATBELT BOWLING LEAGUE

Summary: It’s tight at the top with Mukinbudin sitting just three points clear of last year’s winners Beacon. With Mukinbudin on 58.5 and Beacon on 55.5 the two sides have secured themselves a little bit of breathing room from the chasing pack. Wyalkatchem 39 and Nungarin on 36 round out the finals places while fifth place Koorda look to be the only side capable of ousting the top four incumbents on 28.5 points.

 

EAST AVON BOWLING LEAGUE

Summary: Perennial contenders Cunderdin and Tammin lead the way again occupying the top two places on the ladder. Top placed Cunderdin have a 5.5 point lead from the defending champions as well as Quairading Red on 37 points. Kellerberrin round out the top four on 33.5 before a big drop to the final two places. The top four appears set apart from the order with fifth place Doodlakine having gathered just one win and 14 points.

 

EAST AVON BOWLING LEAGUE

Summary: Shackleton sit top of the ladder undefeated through six from their first six games. Only one point behind them on 30 points are the reigning champions Kellerberrin who also look ominous. It looks to be a race in two but come finals time Tammin 15 and Quairading Green 7 look set to be a part of the action. Cunderdin are in last place with a solitary point but a win could see them overtake Quairading for the final spot.

Summary: Quairading White are the league leaders with just two rounds to play on 20 points. Kellerberrin and Cunderdin are hot on their heels with 15 and 14 points respectively. Tammin on 8 and Quairading 7 round out the competition.

 

GOLDFIELDS BOWLING LEAGUE

Summary: The two finals positions are currently occupied by the two Kalgoorlie sides with the two Boulder teams looking to oust them. Reigning champs Kalgoorlie Green sit top of the ladder with 21 points but their club mates in Kalgoorlie White are hot on their heels with 20. Boulder Black are only an aggregate out of the top two on 16.5 points and even last placed Boulder Gold are still in the hunt on 12.5 points.

Summary: The Goldfields Bowling League season is over with Kalgoorlie Red finishing top of the ladder in the one rink competition. Sarah Trow skippered the side in all but one game which finished with seven wins and a draw from ten games. Reigning champions Boulder Black finished second with seven wins making Chris Ace-Watson the best skipper due to the game missed by Trowl. No other side won more than four games with Kalgoorlie White the third placed side on four wins and a draw.

 

SOUTH EASTERN BOWLING LEAGUE

Summary: It’s a tight finals race this year with seven of the twelve teams still well and truly in contention for top four places. Narembeen Gold currently lead the competition but Merredin Blue are breathing down their necks with 48.5. Westonia 46.5 and Narembeen Maroon 46 are also both big chances to usurp top spot. The next three sides all sit on 41.5 points and could make a finals push yet. Merredin Civic Blue, Corrigin Blue and Merredin Red are the sides in contention.

 

SOUTH EASTERN BOWLING LEAGUE

Summary: A very tight ladder with just 5 rounds remaining sees the defending champions Corrigin Blue holding onto a slender 1 pt lead from challengers Civic Blue. Both sides in theory have a game in hand having already received their second round byes. Corrigin Gold 18.5 are still within striking distance whilst Bruce Rock 13 and Narembeen 12.5 look set to battle for the 4th final position. Civic Gold 8.5 and Westonia 6.5 make up the standings.
