Country v Metro Challenge results

The annual Women’s Country v Metropolitan Challenge was played in perfect conditions at the Manning Memorial Bowling Club on Sunday 19th March 2017.

A strong metropolitan side proved just a bit too good for their country counterparts overall with a 270-212 victory winning on 7 of the 12 rinks playing.
Best for metro was Australian representative Kristina Krstic and her side of Laura Merz, Angela Gunson and Debbie Rhine was won 34-10 against Noeleen Keeffe’s Northern Zone rink. Also big winners on the day was the rink spearheaded by the effervescent Pam Chalmers with Shari Solly, Robyn O’Brien and Sally Wilke who won 31-17 over Bev Davidson’s side.
Good performances handed in by the country team came from Elaine McDonald and her team of Maureen Coulsen, Lyn Colmer and Deb Hammer with a 7 shot win over Safety Bay’s Coralie Shattock 22-15. A previous long time state rep Bev Scott and her team of Kay Gaglia, Irene Grout and Helen Paganoni also produced a handy 4 shot 21-17 victory for the country defeating the rink skippered by Jaewyn Norton.
Congratulations to all players who made the day a success with great bowls being played all day.
Earlier in the day the WA Women’s State Team who are finalising preparations for the Australian Championships at Lockleys Bowling Club, South Australia had a solid hit out against the Bowls WA President selected twelve. The state side winning narrowly 49-46 in a very competitive match.
