Adams defeated Manning’s Matthew Mitchell 25-11 on a tough day at Yokine to complete a hat trick of titles for his club which includes two wins by him and Pieter Harris’ victory last season.
It was a four scored by Adams to take him to 7-2 which sparked a run from him to drive the score to 16-4 as he began to nail his first bowl consistently on a day where chasing was difficult.
Mitchell did score a three to end the rot and give himself a chance at a comeback but was unable to find the consistency to get over the top of his opponent. He could only muster ones from that point on instead of the numbers he needed while Adams took his opportunities to score a couple of twos and a three to get to 23-9 in front.
After two ends to Mitchell, Adams moved to within a shot of victory with a single, he had to restart the next end twice as Mitchell drove and killed it, however Adams found the final shot to win the match on the third replay.
This year’s Champion of Champions is Adams’ third following on from victories in 2002 and 2015 and moves him to within one title of Harry Snook’s record of four. It could prove vital for Adams in his pursuit of a third Rosenthal Medal adding to points picked up state events earlier this season.
Adams will now be eligible to represent Western Australia at the national event in the Northern Territory in October 2017.
