Having had a long break between games the game started a little scratchy and Bourne was the first to find her feet again. She used that fact to extract some hard fought singles on her way to a 5-1 lead.
Mias replied with a three to get back to nearly level and gave herself the opportunity to take control of the game herself. However Bourne responded sharply, finding her rhythm to routinely put Mias under pressure with her draw shot.
Mias dealt with the onslaught well as she drew herself out of trouble on more than one occasion as Bourne’s consistency led her to a 12-5 lead.
Bourne could feel unlucky to not be further ahead and may have had some worries that the chance had gone as Mias began to outdraw her with more regularity. Bourne’s rhythm was never disrupted however as she continued to draw close end after end, the highlight coming when she drew closer than a Mias bowl less than a foot and a half from the jack three times, albeit only ending up with one shot.
The consistency of Bourne took its toll and the game appeared over when she picked up three shots to go 19-9 ahead. She only dropped one more shot and finished with a full house to defeat Mias 25-10.
Following her maiden state level victory Bourne has earned the right to compete on the national stage for the first time. Her victory qualifies here for entry into the National Champion of Champions event to be held in the Northern Territory of October 2017.
