Vale – Rod Wishart

by admin on August 1, 2017

It is with great sadness we note the passing of Association Life Member, Rod Wishart.
Rod held many positions in the sport at a club, state and national level, culminating in him being appointed a national selector from 1984-86 and the Manager of the Commonwealth Games team in 1984.
At club level Rod was a Life Member of both Victoria Park and Kalamunda, graduating to a role as a WA state selector, a position which he held from 1981 – 2002; acting as Chairman of the Selection Committee for four years. Returning to the role in 2005 – 2007, the state team won the Alley Shield nine times and was runner up on a further five occasions during Rod’s time of involvement  – truly the golden era of WA bowls. The award for WA’s best player in an Alley Shield series bears his name.
RWABA President from 1984-86, Rod was inducted as a Life Member of Bowls WA in 2011.
Our sincere condolences to his son Graeme and family.

Following the funeral a gathering at the Victoria Park – Carlisle Bowling Club will be held.
