WA young guns in hunt for Gold

Under 18 National Championships Preview WA has sent a strong contingent of emerging stars to Taren Point Bowling Club New South Wales for the National Under 18 Championships.
The event which was traditionally been a good one for WA with previous singles gold medallists including David Opie, Kristina Krstic and David Downey.
The WA team has been practising hard over recent months under the tutelage of Under 18 State Coach Ken Perks and assistant coach Clive Adams in the hope of performing strongly against some good opposition from around Australia.
The WA team is as follows:
Boys
Singles: Kaleb Walding
Pairs: Jack East & Kaleb Walding (Sk)
Triples: Cory Day, Marcus Simpson, Patrick Quinlan (Sk)
Fours: Cory Day, Jack East, Marcus Simpson, Patrick Quinlan (Sk)

Girls combined with Northern Territory
Singles: Georgia Cant (WA)
Pairs: Olivia Rothwell (NT) & Georgia Cant (WA) (Sk)
Triples: Lauren Kingsley (NT), Kerri-ann Zavazal (NT), Kellie Ainsworth (WA) (Sk)
Fours: Lauren Kingsley (NT), Olivia Rothwell (NT), Kerri-ann Zavazal (NT), Kellie Ainsworth (WA) (Sk)
Coach: Ken Perks    Manager: Lee-Ann Green
The team flew out early Friday morning and will head straight to Taren Point for a quick practice session before heading into competition with the opening round against Victoria on Friday evening.
The opening round will be followed by two morning sessions on Saturday, a further three sessions on Sunday, with medal play-offs scheduled for two sessions on Monday.

Section one of the boys’ features Victoria, Northern Territory (singles and pairs) / Bye (triples and fours), Queensland and Western Australia, while section two includes NSW, Tasmania, ACT and South Australia.

In the girls’, section one includes Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia / Northern Territory and a Bye, while section two features NSW, Tasmania, ACT (singles) / Bye (pairs, triples and fours) and South Australia.

Teams that have a bye will play a scratch match against an Emerging NSW or NSW/NT team; who are not eligible to receive match points.
