$50,000 on the line at Dudley Park

The Everest of Bowls, October 12-15 An idea by local WA bowler Barry Kalinowsky has turned into one of the biggest singles tournaments ever held in Western Australia as top bowlers from all over Australia and New Zealand will converge on Dudley Park Bowling Club from October 12-15th playing for a share in $64,000 prizemoney with a whopping $50,000 first prize at stake.
Notables in the field include a bowls who’s who with Shannon McIlroy, Ryan Bester, Ali Forsyth, Jeremy Henry, Neil Burkett, Karen Murphy, Ellen Ryan, Kristina Krstic, Nathan Rice, Aaron Wilson, Aron Sherriff, Aaron Teys, Corey Wedlock and Nathan Pedersen amongst those in competition, together with a host of Western Australia’s own players who will be hoping home ground support will be to their advantage.
Spots in the field were sold off at $1000 each and many were purchased by WA clubs who held their own mini-qualifiers. Other spots were bought directly by players or bowls enthusiasts and syndicates who then approached players to represent them in the competition.
Play will begin on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th October with eight sections of four players involved in three matches 21 up each day. The 16 qualifiers will then play in knockout format with matches 25 up until the final which will be 31up.
Dudley Park invites all keen bowls followers to come along and support this event. Full bar and TAB facilities along with food options including Craig’s breakfast burger bar which serves up the best bacon and egg burgers are available at the club.
An open draw was conducted at Dudley Park last Friday and one of the early match ups that should draw a crowd will be multiple Australian Indoor Champion Jeremy Henry taking on Australian International Aron Sherriff, who is widely regarding as the best player in Australia at the moment. Other players in what is being dubbed the section of death are WA Premier League players Bill Brandsma and Jon Sharp.
Live streaming via Facebook of selected matches will be available each day including the Henry v Sherriff sectional match on Friday afternoon.
The live streaming along with updates and news are available on the Everest of Bowls Facebook Page
