Krstic claims her second Singles title

Women’s State Singles wrap Kristina Krstic is a two time State Singles champion following her victory in the final at her home club of Manning on Monday.
Krstic was dominant throughout most of the tournament culminating in a quality performance to defeat Irene Arndt of Safety Bay 25-16.
Arndt started the better of the two players finding success on tight narrow hand to win eight of the first eleven ends. However when Krstic got her first bowl close she capitalised scoring a couple of threes and a two to only be trail 13-8.
A switch to the narrow hand brought about some better form as Krstic controlled the second half of the game. Both players continued to draw well for the remainder of the match but Krstic’s increased consistency combined with the added weapon of her hitting ability gave her the edge.
After the initial deficit Krstic outscored Arndt 17-3 to finish as the winner to a score of 25-16.
It capped off strong tournament in which she was only pushed by Noelene Abe and Arndt despite playing other winners of state titles.
Arndt also had an impressive run defeating last years Champion of Champions runner up Lea Mias and four time winner Therese Hastings on her road to the final. Its part of an extremely strong twelve months for Arndt, particularly in singles having won the Over 60s singles last year and earning an equal third at the Champion of Champions last year.
Krstic who is Western Australia’s only national representative will be back playing for Australia at the Under 25 Youth World Championships at Broadbeach Bowling Club on the Gold Coast February 24th to March 2nd. She has already had a brilliant season being runner up in the State Pairs and winning the Master Pairs with team mate Laura Merz.
