Age no barrier for Harry

by admin on February 20, 2018

Harry Clifford wins Kalamunda Singles Last Sunday February 18th Kalamunda completed its Mens Singles Championships.
The event was won by Harry Clifford who turns 86 in a few days which just goes to show age is just a number in bowls.
Harry beat Wayne Olive, and what a final it was, first to 25 and the score was locked at 24-24. Wayne was holding shot with only one bowl to come from Harry. The iceman as he is now known Harry took his time, came up to the head to see what he had to do, walked backed and nailed it. A beautiful backhand draw shot that sat on Wayne’s bowl only inches from the jack.

A good crowd was in attendance to see Harry win his first Singles crown after 27 years of trying.
Another interesting point was that Harry had decided to “retire” from bowling at the beginning of the season but was talked into playing as Kalamunda were short of players.
Good move Harry!!!!
The win now makes Harry eligible to play in the Bowls WA Champion of Club Champion Singles – entries forms are available on the Bowls WA Website under Events. Link https://www.bowlswa.com.au/Events
