Bowls WA AGM held

by admin on July 31, 2018

The 2017/18 Annual General Meeting has been held at the Manning Memorial Bowling Club.
Disappointingly only thirty metropolitan clubs attended representing less than 50% of affiliated clubs; fortunately representatives from three country clubs enabled a quorum to be met and the meeting to proceed.
The Annual Report was received and accepted with President Kerry Andersen providing those in attendance an insight into the strategic and operational activities of the Association over the last twelve months. Director of Finance Lisa Featherby also provided a detailed summation of the audited accounts and required changes due to upgraded Accounting Standards.  Following reports and the election of Directors and BMC club representatives, the CEO Ken Pride provided an update on the recommended changes to the current Affiliation Fee Model due for implementation in the 2019/20 financial year.
These recommendations will be subject to a Special General Meeting in December this year.
Focus over the next few months will now turn to country clubs to update them on the planned changes.
Finally, Kardinya Bowling Club was recognised for the outstanding effort their club provided in hosting the National Multi-Bowl Championships in April. This event was an outstanding success with disabled athletes from every state in Australia participating. Kardinya President Don Fitzgerald accepted a Certificate of Appreciation from Bowls WA President Kerry Andersen. Mr Fitzgerald thanked the association for the recognition and also thanked Rossmoyne Bowling Club for their efforts in hosting the final day when inclement weather necessitated a move to the under cover green at that venue.
