Holt and Scott ready to roll for WA

by Cameron Harris on October 7, 2018

Australian Champion of Champions Preview This October Western Australia will be represented at the National Champion of Champions by two country bowlers for the first time in recent history.
Wagin’s Warren Holt and Capel’s Bev Scott will make the trip across to Kingborough Bowling Club in Tasmania to take on the best our nation has to offer.
Holt will be making his first journey to represent WA and will have to be at his best against an all-star field that includes four international representatives.
Scott may be more settled in her third campaign against a field that perhaps lacks the big names of the men.
She’ll open her campaign against a player very well known to bowlers on this side of the country in former WA rep turned Northern Territorian Shenayde Heldt.
Her major rivals for her tilt include Heldt as well as promising Victorian Georgia Whiteside and the local Tassie hope Lauren Banks who may have the benefit of local knowledge.
Given her experience Scott has to have one of the best claims in the field.
Holt will go over after a fantastic singles season last year in which he won both the Champion of Champions and State Singles, a record he’ll be hoping to maintain.
He comes up against the Northern Territory’s Mark Malogorski first up which may be his best chance to settle into the tournament, given his next two games are against local star and defending champion Lee Schraner and World Champion Wayne Reudiger.
Other tough games include Commonwealth Games Singles Silver Medalist Ryan Bester, Fours  and Triples Silver Medalist Barrie Lester and 2017 Australian Indoor Champion David Ferguson.
Holt will be looking to improve on Western Australia’s last two finishes in the event of third place.
Bowls Australia will be live streaming games on the Bowls Australia Facebook page throughout the event. Make sure you LIKE their page to get notified.
Draws and results are also available on the Bowls Australia Competition Portal.
