Adams on the world stage

The voice of bowls himself, Clive Adams, is heading over to Scotland to take on the world’s best at the World Bowls Tour’s International Open.

Fresh off his State Fours win Adams flew out on Wednesday for another crack at a Professional Bowls Association event.

He travels 14,692 kilometres to play in, of all places, Perth.

He won a regional qualifier earlier this year to earn his place on the plane beating out much of the state’s best players as well as players from around Australia.

As a winner of a qualifier Adams will take on one of the tour’s 16 seeded players in his first match of the tournament.

He will face 8th seed Stewart Anderson in his opening match.

If he can get past that first challenge he may set up a second-round meeting with Alex Marshall, considered by many as the sport’s best player.

Adam’s will be no pushover for his more fancied opponents and comes into the tournament in good form.

As well as his State Fours title he also boasts impressive singles form over the past few months.

A runner-up position at the Australian Indoor Singles showed his ability to compete on the national stage while a solid performance in singles at the prestigious Helensvale National 5-a-Side saw him beat the likes of Aaron Teys, Ben Twist and David Ferguson.

Clive’s match against Anderson will be shown live on the World Bowls Tour YouTube channel and is scheduled for approximately 3:00am Sunday morning West Australian time.

For those unwilling to get up quite so early the World Bowls Tour do make live streams available on the channel on demand after they finish.
