Great Scott wins again

Ladies South West Bowling League Championship wrap

It was not surprising that evergreen Capel bowler, Bev Scott (pictured right), got a standing ovation from the Champions of Champions of the ladies South West Bowling league when she won the Leagues Singles Championship at Bunbury recently.

This is Bev Scott 12th South West Bowling League singles title.

The championship was played over three days with the eight teams in each format from Bunbury Eaton, Busselton, Binningup, Capel, Collie, Harvey and Brunswick.

At the carnival all ladies who won their individual club’s championship events in the singles, pairs, triples and fours played off in a round robin format.

It is estimated that over the three days each bowler walked 10.35 kilometres, bent and stretched 616 times and lifted in the order of 92 kg per game.

Many of the games went to the wire involving one or two shot victories.

The Veterans division which was won by Elaine McDonald from Eaton with Capel bowler Joy O’Brien (both pictured left) Runner Up.

The other events were shared amongst the competing clubs with the Pairs won by Bunbury, Triples by Eaton and Fours by Busselton.

Overall Bunbury took the title as winning club in one of the closest finishes to the championships with just 5pts separating the top 4 clubs.

Fours: Judy Rice, Helen Paganoni, Alexandra (Lexi) Harris, Joan Bray (Busselton)

Champion Club: Bunbury 37.5pts
