Morss delivers in Masters Triples

by Aaron Delaporte on May 6, 2019

Manning’s Helen Morss has combined with Osborne Park players Helen Stevens and Pam Chalmers to win the Osborne Park Ladies Masters triples in dramatic fashion in what was an all Osborne Park/Manning final.

This event which was revitalised by Osborne Park last season attracted a strong field of 28 teams which played in a knockout format of 2x2x2 over 15 ends with a major and plate.

Despite some showers through the event the greens ran well and some excellent bowls were played. The last four teams all had strong claims for the title  with Morss’s side defeating the Mundaring trio of Toni Madigan, Lee Bunney and Bev Duff whilst Hailey Packer (Osborne Park) with Sue Hogg and Helen Heal (Manning), pictured below, proved too good for the strong Manning side of Kristina Krstic, Therese Hastings and Robyn Jolly.

The final was an epic encounter with both sides playing exceptionally well. The standard was so high it was regarded as one of the best Ladies finals seen as all players regularly took turns to surround the jack. Morss’s team held a slender 11-10 lead going into the final end however Packer’s side took the advantage and with just one bowl to play they held game with two shots. Morss however ended the tournament in spectacular fashion by drawing shot much to the delight of her team mates and the good crowd on hand.

The team of Dudley Park team Vicki Spragg, Jenni Rogalski, Irene Grout, pictured below, won the plate final defeating Liz Matthews, Karina Gale and Irene Arndt (Composite).
