New Masters champions crowned
Two new names were added to the trophy as the Tour de Force North Beach Ladies Masters Pairs concluded yesterday afternoon.
Manning’s Hailey Packer with her Osborne Park partner Toni Madigan claimed the title for the first time with a very impressive 20-9 victory over the defending title holders Kristina Krstic and Helen Heal from Manning. Packer who has had a remarkable run in recent events including a State Fours with her opponent Krstic played superbly and was equally assisted by Madigan as they had the answers for most of the match in a strong victory.
They nearly didn’t survive to make the final after leading 14-4 and fell in a hole in the semi final against twin sisters Shaan Saunders and Amanda Masters (Osborne Park) who rallied late in the match. However a couple of steadying bowls saved the day for Packer and Madigan as they progressed to the final with a 19-16 win. Kristic and Heal had a strong 26-9 win in their semi-final against the tournament surprise packets of Shelley Worth and Sandra Young.
Hailey Packer now leads the Women’s standings for champion bowler in the Dyenamic Masters Series having earlier won the Masters Mixed Fours.
The next events in the Masters Calendar are the Doubleview Men’s Masters Pairs and the Mosman Park Women’s Masters Singles in February.
