Club Information Conference a success

Around ninety individual members representing thirty five clubs attended the inaugural Bowls WA Club Information Conference at Trinity on Hampton, 230 Hampton Rd Crawley on Tuesday 3rd March 2020 as part of the Winning Drive program which focuses on club development areas to build sustainable clubs through out Western Australia.

SportsWest’s CEO Rob Thomson opened the conference with a focus on club support networks and the importance of communication within clubs to share knowledge, information and expertise for the benefit of the sport.

Fifteen individual information sessions were held across five hours of the conference on various club related areas including synthetic greens, irrigation, shades structures, chemicals and fertilisers umpiring, coaching, community engagement, liquor licensing, bowls link, social media, planning, governance, grants and sponsorship.

Presenters included Bowls WA staff and volunteers in coaching and umpiring, Bowls Australia’s regional Bowls Manager Clive Adams plus experts in various fields with contact information listed below.

Many favourable comments were received following the event including the following from John O’Brien Secretary at Merriwa Bowling Club

It was mentioned several times during the day how good it was the socialise with other Clubs in an informal environment.

It was also great to do the group activities where you could share ideas and learn off each other.”
