COVID sees changes to the Perth Suns
The uncertainty surrounding border restrictions has forced changes to the make-up of the Perth Suns for #BPL12.
Scheduled to be played at the magnificent Moama Bowling Club on the NSW side of the NSW/Vic border from the 23rd – 26th February, WA team members Kristina Krstic, Cody Packer and Coach Pieter Harris will stand aside for the event given the likely requirement of a 14-day quarantine upon their return.
In their place Australian Jackaroo and current Bowls Australia Female Bowler of the Year Genevieve Delves, and past Jackaroo and current national Champion of Champions titleholder Ray Pearce will join with Victorian Lee Schraner to complete the side. Both Delves and Pearce have had outstanding results in recent years, with Delves in particular dominating ladies bowls in NSW.
The last instalment of the Australian Open in 2019 saw Delves and Pearce take home national titles in the Pairs and with both being outstanding draw bowlers this will be a key attribute in the cut-throat BPL format.
The announcement of the Suns Coach will be made shortly, with a local player a likely choice given the travel restrictions in place.
