by Aaron Delaporte on March 15, 2021

The Blooms The Chemist Women’s Friday Night pennant final was held on March 12th at Bedford Bowling Club between Bedford and Thornlie Bowling Clubs

Both finals teams had completed the regular home and away season with an identical 12 wins and just one loss over the 14 rounds with one game was not played due to the WA Covid lockdown.

Bedford had the home ground advantage as they had gained 50pts for the year across their wins just ahead of the 46pts gained by Thornlie.

The rinks of Pearl Watene (lead), Lynda Mohr (second), Sofia Eksanow (third) and Pamela Bayliss (skip) for Bedford and Diane Bell, Toni Astill, Sue Bennett and Dianne Burns for Thornlie played out a very competitive and tight 13 all draw across their 15 ends, so it was up to the other rink to decide the contest.

Bedfords Patricia Jennings, Asena Taufa, Margaret Sitko and Karen Turpin playing a great game to triumph 23-5 over Tae Fenwick, Helen Mitchell, Faye Ibrahim and Julie Fielder for Thornlie.

A delighted Bedford team presented the flag and pennant badges by Leonie Potts (Bowls WA Fixtures and Events Chairperson) at the conclusion of the match.

Congratulations to all the players on both teams on their tremendous seasons and a big thank you to everyone who participated along with all the host clubs who make Friday Night Pennants such a great competition.
