1st Blue Division

In 1st Blue it was Joondalup versus Leeming after both teams finish on top of their respective North and South Divisions. Osborne Park was the neutral venue and the game was played on a very quick green which ran superbly.

Joondalup had claimed top spot in 1st Blue North on the very last game of the season getting maximum points to leapfrog Swan who where defeated in the last round. Joondalup finished on 72pts for the year whilst Leeming had finished the season on top with 70pts but with a shaky end to the season losing to bottom place Warnbro in Round 18.

The final was a real beauty and both teams gave it their all across the 21 ends and three rinks. The game was in the balance for a lot of the match and level with just two ends to play but Joondalup were able to edge clear picking up a two and then a three to win 55-50.

The rink of Jimmy Buchanan (skip), Mike Korycin, Mark Ryan and Martin Cheeseman the best for the winning side with a 22-15 victory over the Leeming team skipped by Ian Ashworth.

6th Division

The 6th Division final was held at South Perth with the two clubs involved being Bullsbrook and Warnbro once again travelling from North and South of the river to battle it out.

Just 13 teams contested 6th division this season but congratulations to all those who put in the effort and hopefully enjoyed themselves through-out the season.

6th Division Red was extremely close all year and Warnbro needed maximum points in the last game of the year to finish top with 38pts just ahead of a gallant South Perth/North Perth combined on 37.5pts with Mt Pleasant 34.5pts and Fremantle 33pts all having a very good season.

In 6th Division Bullsbrook and Kalamunda were the better sides with Bullsbrook finishing on 32pts ahead of Kalamunda on 28.5pts.

The final was a very close affair with both teams having one rink gaining the ascendency through-out the day. In the washup it was the Bullsbrook rink of Barry Bettens, Frank Lilley, Gordon Rutherford, George Peddey who won 27-15 against Tony Kalajzic offsetting the 23-16 win by Trevor Tartoosie for Warnbro over David Cotton Bullsbrook, the overall result a 43-38 win.

6th Division – Bullsbrook

Congratulations to all players and the two winning clubs, we look forward to reporting the winners of the other divisions this time next week.
