Men’s Midweek Pennant Wrap

Blooms The Chemist Men’s Midweek Pennants was wrapped up yesterday with six clubs taking out pennants yesterday.

Premier League which saw a terrific tussle between Sorrento and Osborne Park. After 59 ends of the scheduled 63 the scores were locked at 52 all before Osborne Park were able to win a few ends to take a 3 shot lead going into the final. Sorrento played well and had two counters but they weren’t able to add the needed third shot for the draw and Osborne Park were left to celebrate a terrific but narrow one shot win. The big winners for Osborne Park was the side of Neville Stevens (skip) with Connor Biddle, Kristian Carr and Lionel Bell who prevailed 31-15.

Manning proved far too good for North Beach in 1^st Division White and both sides will now progress to Premier League next season.

North Beach did however claim the second division pennant with a solid 10 shot win over Safety Bay, other flag winners were Joondalup in 3^rd division, Mt Pleasant in 4^th division and South Perth in 5^th division.

The third division win by Joondalup was rather notable as the game ended in a draw after the regulation 21 ends across the three rinks. All teams then went out to play an extra end and it was the home side who prevailed picking up a 1,2 and 6 to take the flag. The rink skippered by Scott Baldock was the one who grabbed the 6 to give his team a rather unique 20-19 victory.
