2021 STATE BOWLING ARM SINGLES WRAP
Bowls WA hosted the 2021 Bowling Arm State Singles tournament on Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 May at Warnbro Bowling Club. With a change of format to sections of three (3) there were 12 rinks playing sectional and alignment rounds on the first day.
Observers would have mistaken the alignment rounds with Final games due to the quality of play with Gary Moore from Yunderup winning 21 to 20 over Roy Jones from Port Bouvard, and Keith Holland of Midland Morrison going down two points to Allan Axton of Mandurah – both games vied point-for-point on each end!
All games, except the Final, were formatted to 21 Shots Up untimed. The Finals game was 25 Shots Up and untimed.

The Semi Finals upon completion found the following players competing for these Medals:
- Gold & Silver: Maurice Crabb (Gosnells) & Bill Taylor (Safety Bay)
- Bronze: Kevan McKenzie (Collie) & Ashley Armstrong (Bunbury)
The quality of the Finals games was exceptional as the tenacious bowlers had toucher after toucher, out drew each other, and wowed the audience with their games!
In the Gold/Silver grand final there were 29 ends played with a draw on ends 9 (9 all), 14 (13 all), 18 (16 all), 25 (22 all), and 28 (24 all).
However, only one player can achieve each medal … the end results were:
- GOLD: Bill Taylor (Safety Bay)
- SILVER: Maurice Crabb (Gosnells)
- BRONZE: Ashley Armstrong (Bunbury)

In 2019 Warnbro sponsored the Perpetual State Bowling Arm Trophy. For two years the name Laurie Blurton has been on this trophy, and now it will have the third name of Bill Taylor – well done Bill!

Thank you to Warnbro Bowling Club who was an excellent host supplying a first-class venue with two under-cover greens hosting 12 rinks and a further two outdoor greens also hosting 12 rinks. The volunteer help was exceptional from the kitchen to the greens.
