Butler and McIlroy join High Performance team

by Pieter Harris on November 12, 2021

Bowls WA has the pleasure to announce two new appointments to the High Performance Team for a one year period.

Blake Butler takes the place of retired Under 18 Coach Ken Perks to take charge of WA’s Under 18 players. Ken has been a wonderful volunteer in his capacity with the Under 18’s over the years and we wish him well in his coaching future.

Blake will at times work closely with WA Academy Coach, Linda Warburton and Academy players while also developing his own program to enrich the Under 18’s players abilities and experience.

Blake brings with him his own vast wealth of knowledge and experiences from his days as an under 18 player in NSW and winning WA State Titles. Blake has expressed a passion to help WA Under 18 players not only improve but to enjoy the experience while doing it. We can’t wait to see what Blake has in store for our next generation

The second appointment sees Kyle Mcilroy join the Open Team State Selectors Panel. Kyle replaces Pieter Harris who has stepped down from the role and will join Kerry Andersen (Chair), Tony Hockey (Men’s State Coach/Selector), Therese Hastings (Women’s State Coach/Selector) and Helen Stevens (Selector).

Kyle has played over 200 games for Western Australia over a long career and is looking forward to not only adding to the panel in a selection capacity but to also use his experience to assist the coaches in any way he can on and off the green.
