It was a highly successful event for Mandurah bowling club, which highlighted their brand new synthetic green and fully enclosed indoor green.

After a bit of confusion due to Covid restrictions and competitors having to pull out and some original information that was supplied by the Australian Master’s Games, Mandurah was able to run a streamlined event. There was wonderful feedback from the many competitors, several from other states in Australia.

A Huge Thank you must go out to the many volunteers who made it a success.

  • The many members who helped on roster during the week
  • Mandurah’s own umpires – with a special thanks to Robyn Coxon from Yunderup and David and Larraine Heckingbottom and Greg Crisp from Halls Head
  • Ed Burley and the guys looking after the greens
  •  Christine Hough and volunteers who kept up the supply of bacon and egg toasted sandwiches, of which a record amount were sold each day. As well as other food
  • Bar Staff who helped with the food and drinks

Many thanks to Deanne Tyers for coordinating everything with the Australian Masters representative.  Mark Willcock, Men’s Captain, Fran Hunter, Ladies Captain, Kerry West, Ladies Director of Bowls, along with Reg, Peter and Geoff and Neil who helped us do several redraws of the games right up until the day before. Also thanks to Erica Eayrs for help with the PAMI program to record the scores during the event. Ultimately, everything went smoothly on each day.

It was great to see that two Mandurah ladies medalled with Maz Hunter winning a silver medal and Pat Huckson gold – medal both in the mixed pairs.

And a huge thank you to The Australian Masters Games for giving Mandurah the opportunity to not only showcase The Mandurah Bowling Club, but highlight Mandurah the City as well!
