Bowls Blitz Final Day Matchups at Cockburn BC

by Pieter Harris on July 29, 2022

The Cockburn Bowling Club is ready to host the final day of the Bowls Blitz 2022 on Sunday 31st July

With the final two rounds to take place in the morning before finals in the afternoon, the stage is set for a great day of bowls with seven of the eight teams still in the hunt for finals action.

Each rink win is worth 10 points plus a point for each end won. Every team still has 60 points available from rink wins with each franchise to play three rinks per round. The AFGRI Pinnacles may currently sit on top of the ladder but as they are only 14 points clear of the fifth-placed Henselite Enforcers and 24 points clear of the sixth-placed Variety- The Childrens Charity Chargers, they are still vulnerable to missing the finals altogether.

The BCiB Blitz currently sitting in seventh place on the ladder are only 30 points from the second-placed Dyenamic Cyclones who they play first up on Sunday morning. A clean sweep of all three rinks gives them the 30 points required to draw level plus with some extra ends won, would see them right in the equation for finals with one round to play. The Cyclones are only six points ahead of fifth place so they will still need to win both the second last and last round to secure their spot in the afternoon finals.

The fourth-placed Senior Recreation Council Sharpshooters take on the fifth-placed Henselite Enforcers first up on Sunday, with the winner of that fixture going a long way to booking a finals birth.

The Afgri Pinnacles will want some early points to hold on to the top spot but they play the points-hungry Chargers in the first game of the day. A loss by the Chargers could see them fall out of finals contention so a majority points win over the Pinnacles is essential.

The defending Champions, Blooms The Chemist Stars are currently in the log jam of the four in third position. They start the day off with the dangerous Liquor Trader Pirates. The Pirates may be out of finals contention but they will be hell-bent on upsetting the other teams finals chances. The Stars will finish the morning up against the equally placed Sharpshooters, so any points lead they can get might be the difference in playing finals or not.
