Women’s IZRR Pairs Results

On the 18th & 19th February the Women’s Inter Zone Round Robin Pairs played out at Corrigin Bowling Club. With a scorching forecast that was unfortunately accurate the competition continued with a conscious effort to keep the heat in mind.

Saturday Morning saw to the Eastern playing against the Southern. Eastern were the victors winning by three shots. South Western faced off against Northern whereby a comfortable lead and win was claimed by South Western. After a break for lunch the Eastern team pitted off against Northern whilst South Western matched up against Southern. The Mid Afternoon saw a 45 minute break as a result of the heat which was a welcomed break for the competitors.

Finally the competitors were back on the greens to finish the games. Northern were the victors against Eastern and South Western claimed a win from Southern with a tight one shot.

Sunday brought around an early morning start to avoid the peak of temperatures, the players welcomed the more bearable conditions. The last set of games saw Southern versus Northern and South Western versus Eastern. Southern found their strive winning by a considerable amount. South Western won against Eastern with a comfortable 10 shots.

The weekend saw to some great bowls and great competition the final Winners were South Western and runners up being Southern with 3rd place Eastern and 4th place Northern. At the end of the event the presentation was made to Southwest by Eastern Zone president and Secretary Carol Ashworth and Sue Collins.

Carol Ashworth the President of Eastern Zone Ladies had this to say on the event:
