At a special gathering at the Mount Lawley Bowling Club recently, WA’s best from the Australian Sides Championships and Australian Senior Sides Championships were crowned with their associated awards…

Australian Sides Series – WA award winners

Blake Nairn captured his first Allan Eddy/Rod Wishart Medal in just his second appearance for WA. Nairn’s rink was the best performed rink for WA during the series, and in accepting the award Nairn thanked his teammates for their contribution. The Nairn rink finished the series with 4 wins and an impressive 62 shots up.

Kristina Krstic was once again crowned best for the WA women’s side and collected the Beryl Godfrey Award – remarkably, it is the seventh time Krstic has earned this honour since first winning it in 2014. Since then, Helen Morss is the only other player to have individually won this award, with Krstic having tied on two occasions, with Hailey Packer and Shenayde Carley (Heldt).

Noelene Abe collects the Beryl Brennan Award for the second time following her first award received in 2019. Abe’s rink won 5 matches from their 7 outings and had a very handy 34 margin to show for it. A star of WA bowls for many years, it is no surprise to see Abe still getting plenty close in the Over 60’s event.

Kevin Pickering joins Osborne Park teammates Gary Caffell and Gordon King in receiving the Roger Barns/Jim McKenzie Award. In a very even display across the team, Pickering deservingly won the award in a very close count.
